Muzaffarpur : Around half-a-dozen armed criminals entered  the Motipur Branch of Bank  of India (BoI) in Muzaffarpur District in North Bihar on February 17, 2020, and after assaulting the Manager, Cashier, and employees of the bank  looted Rs 14 lakh cash from the vault and escaped on their bikes. The banks have become soft target of the criminals  mostly in rural areas but this loot took place in Motipur town on main road  in broad daylight. Motipur is located 31 km west from Muzaffarpur.

SSP, Muzaffarpur, Jay Kant told this scribe  that the gang of criminals had been identified and they would be arrested soon . Raids are being conducted to arrest the criminals, he said.

SDPO, Western Muzaffapur Sub-Division, Krishna Bihari Prasad, said  he  visited the place of occurrence and gathered   information  from the customers and bank officials about the incident. Police have got vital clues and are in action, the SDPO said.

According to police sources, the  criminals entered the bank  brandishing  pistols around 3 pm and asked the Cashier to hand over key of vault to them . They assaulted the bank officials and employees and snatched the key.
