Ara : Doctors at Ara Sadar Hospital went on indefinite strike on December 23, 2017, after  Bhojpur District Magistrate Sanjeev Kumar allegedly threatened to send the Civil Surgeon to jail.
A mega health camp was organised on the campus of Ram Swarth Sahu High School at Jagdishpur in Bhojpur district on December 23. The ALIMCO company had organised the mega camp where senior citizens and physically challenged persons were examined. Over 40 stalls by different government departments were set up and doctors of  Ara Sadar Hospital examined the persons at the mega camp.

The DM had directed the Civil Surgeon Dr Ras Bihari Singh to depute doctors to the camp. The CS complied with the order but an Orthopaedic surgeon reached there about an hour late. In the meantime, someone informed the DM that the Orthopaedician had not come. The DM, without verifying the matter, allegedly used strong words and also threatened the CS to jail on mobile phone.

The doctors of Ara Sadar Hospital took strong exception to it and paralysed the working of the hospital. The Out Patient Department (OPD) and emergency service were paralysed as the doctors went on indefinite strike in protest against DM’s behaviour. But, DM Sanjeev Kumar refuted the charge and said he had neither abused nor threatened the CS and had only warned him.
