Ara : Hundreds of residents of Ara blocked Sapna Cinema Road paralysing movement of vehicles for about four hours on May 11, 2018, in protest against erratic power supply to the town for the last one month and inordinate delay in replacement of transformer. They also burnt tyres on road and raised slogans against Bhojpur district administration and the officials of South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL).

Santosh Yadav, a local resident, said that during sultry summer, they had to go without power and water for about a month despite several request to the officials of the SBPDCL.  He added that a number of transformers are out of order but officials are making lame excuse of transformer shortage. He also vent his ire against Ara MP and Union Minister Raj Kumar Singh alleging he had failed to do anything to solve the problem. Nothing tangible has so far been done by him to improve power supply to Ara, said Santosh.
