Ara : Hundreds of residents of Ara blocked Ara-Patna main road near Bhaluhipur locality under Ara Town police station in Bhojpur district since July 21, 2018, morning, in protest erratic power supply in this sultry summer for the last three months.

The protesters burnt tyres on road and paralysed movement of traffic raising slogans against Ara BJP MP cum Union Energy Minister Raj Kumar Singh and local RJD MLA Anwar Alam and officials of the South Bihar Power Distributor Company Limited (SBPDCL). They said that despite CM Nitish Kumar’s determination to provide 24×7 hour power supply at the district headquarter, the officials of the SBPDCL were cutting power supply at their sweet forcing them to often spend sleepless night that too without water. Besides erratic power supply, low voltage, tripping and fluctuation are major problems and none of the electric equipment work properly, the protesters claimed.
