Ara : Hundreds of residents of Ara blocked Ara-Patna NH 30 for about two hours paralysing movement of vehicles in protest against high-handedness of police personnel. They burnt tyres and raised slogans against Bhojpur district administration. They were demanding stern action against the police personnel concerned. The blockade was lifted after the police officials assured to take action against the guilty cops on the basis of CCTV footage.

Abhishek Kumar Raj, 22, son of Sridev Kumar of village Bhabhua under the same police station in Kaimur district had come to his maternal uncle Ajay Kumar of Chandawa Housing Colony under Ara Town police station to attend the birthday of his cousin sister Joya. In the morning, he along with his maternal uncle Ajay Kumar was going to Dharahara on his scooty where some CRPF personnel, in the name of traffic jam, thrashed Abhishek Kumar Raj. The locals rushed him to Ara Sadar Hospital.

Ajay Kumar said that the police personnel on traffic duty realised illegal money from the trucks and when the truck drivers refused to oblige them, the police personnel targeted the common people.
