Ara : A Warder of Ara jail, Tripurai Mishra, was suspended with immediate effect on February 24, 2019, for dereliction of duty and supplying mobile phones to the jail inmates. A video showing some inmates merry making and talking on mobile phones had gone viral on social media. It was shot between December 30, 2018, and January 2, 2019. The video was made on the verandah just behind Ward No 10 inside Ara jail.
A CD of the video was given to the Central Jail at Buxar too and the action against the Warder was taken on the basis of the show notice to the Deputy Superintendent of the jail, duty register and identification of the inmates of the jail in the video footage.
Jail Superintendent Niranjan Pandit said that after the video went viral on the social media, the Bhojpur district administration took stern action and suspended the warder of the Ara jail with immediate effect. He said that the inmates were merry making at different places inside the jail and talking on mobile phones and added three inmates had been identified from videos and action would be taken against them.
