Ara : With a 20 year old girl of  Bhaluhipur locality near Ara testing positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) on April 25, 2020, Bhojpur District has reported second confirmed case of the disease. Earlier, a 26 year old man of village Rampur under Barhara block in Bhojpur had tested positive for COVID-19 on April 19, 2020.

As the news of the girl testing positive for Coronavirus spread, a team of doctors was rushed to her house and officials of the district administration are looking into her travel history. Ara Sadar SDO also visited Ara Sadar Hospital. The areas in 3 km radius of Bhaluhipur locality have been sealed and the residents of the area have been asked not to come out their houses and maintain complete lockdown with a warning of stern action in the event of non-compliance of the order.

Police brought over 11 members of the girl’s family to a hotel near Ramana Maidan, Ara, to quarantine them. But the owner and staff of hotel escaped after locking the hotel even as some hotels at Ara have been made quarantine centres. Police were waiting outside the hotel for its owner and staff to return till the time of filing of this report.

Dr Satish Kumar Sinha, Superintendent, Sadar Hospital, Ara, said that a 20 year old girl of Bhaluhipur, about 4 km away from Ara Town,  was admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital after she complained of cold, cough, and fever and the doctors sent her swab to Patna for pathological examination on April 23, 2020. The girl tested COVID-19 positive in the pathological test on April 25, 2020. She has been kept at Isolation ward  of Ara Sadar Hospital.
