Ara : Additional District and Sessions Judge IX, Ara, Manoj Kumar, on June 14, 2021, awarded capital punishment to ten accused through video conferencing in a businessman Imran Khan murder case. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 2.60 lakh on each of them.
The ADJ IX awarded death sentence to dreaded criminal Khurshid Quraishi, his brother Abdulla Quraishi of Kaji Tola, Raju Khan of Nazirganj, Anwar Quraishi alias Sarala Mian, Guddu Mian alias Guddu Chor of Rouja locality, Ahamad Mian of Milki Mohalla, Bavali Mian, Taushif Alam, Furchan alias Fuchan Mian of Khetadi Mohalla, and Shamsher Mian of Abarpul under Ara Town police station (PS). One of the accused Md Nayyar is still absconding.
The court had found all the ten accused including Khurshid Quraisi and his brother Abdula Quraishi guilty of murder, criminal conspiracy, extortion and under Arms Act and convicted them on January 13, 2021, in connection with murder of businessman Imran Khan and sent them to jail.
Advocate Md Ikhteyar alias Lala from prosecution side said that some armed miscreants in a broad daylight had shot dead a businessman dealing in bags and injured two others at Shobha Shree Market near Dharman Chowk about 50 meters from Ara Town PS on December 6, 2018, and escaped. The deceased was identified as Imran Khan, son of Allauddin Khan of Doodh Katora under Ara Town PS while the injured were identified as Aqil Khan, elder brother of the deceased, and a Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) employee Faruque of Gundi village under Krishnagarh PS.
A named FIR was lodged with Ara Town PS against Khurshid Quraishi, Abdulla Quraishi, Md Nayar, Raju Khan, Bavali Mian, Abdul Quraishi, Sarala Mian, Ahmad Mian, Shamsher Mian, and Tausif Mian in this regard on the statement of Aqil Mian, elder brother of the deceased. .
The then Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar had said that Imran Khan’s family had purchased a piece of land but a notorious criminal Khurshid Quraishi of Kazi Tola under Ara Town PS was allegedly interested in the plot and wanted to grab it. He killed Imran Khan and injured two others. The SP had said that STF was formed after the murder.
Tthe STF arrested the main accused in Imran Khan murder case Khurshid Quraishi, who was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, from Jahangir Metro Station in New Delhi. Over two had half a dozen criminal cases like murder, loot, ransom, and others are pending against him with Ara Town PS. Imran Khan’s sister Shabnam Tara was also killed in the month of February in 2019. During interrogation Khurshid Quraishi confessed his involvement in the murder of Imran Khan and his sister Shabnam Tara and injuring RJD leader Aqil Ahamad. He had also spilled names of his aides. Bhojpur police, on the direction of the court, had attached properties of accused : Khurshid Quraishi, Md Nayyar, Raju Khan, and Anwar alias Sarala Mian
Shobha Shree Market belonged to Shobha Devi and she had given shops of 500 square feet to Abhishek Kumar under an agreement. Abhishek Kumar, however, allegedly entered into an agreement with a criminal of the area Khurshid Quraishi and sublet it to him. When the time of agreement expired and money was not paid, Abhishek Kumar once again entered into an agreement with Imran Khan and sublet the same shop to Imran Khan.At this both the parties locked their shops in the market and Khurshid Quraishi thrashed Abhishek Kumar for subletting the shops to Imran Khan.Abhishek Kumar lodged a named FIR with Ara Town PS.
