Ara : Additional District and Sessions Judge IX, Ara, Manoj Kumar, on March 9, 2021, convicted ten persons including a dreaded criminal Khurshid Quraishi alias Don alias Chhote Sarkar and his brother Abdullah in the case of murder of a businessman Imran Khan at Shobha Market at Dharman Chowk under Ara Town police station in Bhojpur District in South Bihar in December, 2016. The quantum of punishment would be announced on March 24, 2021. Later, the court sent them to jail.
The court also held them guilty of demanding rangdari (extortion amount), murder, criminal conspiracy, and also under Arms Act. It was said that the trader was killed for possession of the shop in the market.
APP Nagendra Prasad Singh said that some armed miscreants had fire indiscriminately at Shobha Market near Dharman Chowk about 50 meter away from the Ara Town police station in December, 2016 and killed a bag businessman Imran Khan of Dudh Katora and injured his brother Aqil Ahmad and an employee of BSNL. A named FIR was lodged with Ara town police station against Khurshid Quraishi, his brother Abdullah, and some others in this connection.
It was said in the FIR that the miscreants had demanded Rs 10 lakh rangdari from the trader Imran Khan and when he refused, they killed him and also injured Abdullah and an employee of the BSNL.
After hearing both the parties, ADJ IX Manoj Kumar convicted Khurshid Quraishi, his brother Abdullah of Kasab Tola, Raju Khan of Nazirganj, Anwar Quraishi, Guddu Mian of Rauza Mohalla, Ahamd Mian of Milki Mohalla, Babali Mian, Tausif Alam, Fuchan alias Fukan Mian of Khetadi Mohalla, Shamsher Mian of Abarpur Mohalla under 387/34, 302, 307, 120 (B) and 27 Arms Act.
It was said that after the incident, Khurshid Quraishi had left the town and police failed to arrest him and so the Police headquarters announced an award of Rs 50,000 on his head. Later, he was arrested from New Delhi on March 22, 2019. After his arrest, Khurshid Quraishi had confessed before the then Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar that he killed Imran Khan’s sister Shabnam Tara because she allegedly came to his house with a gun after the murder of Imran Khan and challenged him.
