Ara : A newly married couple from Ara along with several other tourists remains stranded at Neil Island, about 40 km from Port Blair in South Andman, for four days following cyclone even as the government has sent rescue teams to evacuate the stranded tourists. The couple  had gone there on honeymoon.

Abhishek of Jagdeonagar under Nawada police station , Ara, in Bhojpur district and Nidhi, both software engineers, had tied nuptial knot on November 24, 2016, and went on honeymoon to Andman-Nicobar a fortnight ago. After visiting six other places, they reached Neil island. Abhishek told this correspondent from  Neil Island on December 9, 2016, that the island had been hit by the storm caused by depression. The Indian government has sent rescue ships but they were yet to reach the shore due to rough sea. The local administration advised them to remain inside. He said that there was complete black out and drinking water and foodstuffs were running short.

Abhishek’s father Gyanendra Kumar and mother Usha Devi appealed the government to rescue their children. Meanwhile, sources said that rescue operation has started and Navy ships and helicopters have started evacuation operation and taking the tourists to Port Blair.
