Patna : World No 20 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Anders Antonsen, 21, Denmark, stunned World No 1 and reigning World Champion Kento Momota, 24, Japan, in the final of Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2019 to win the men’s singles title on Januray 27, 2019. Antonsen beat Momota in a see-saw battle 21-16, 14-21, 21-16 in 79 minutes in the final at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Indonesia. Indonesia Masters is a BWF World Tour Super 500 event.
Antonsen won 56 rallies in the match to 53 by the World No 1 Momota. Antonsen four consecutive points during the match to 7 by Momota. Momota now leads Antonsen 3-1 head to head. Momota lost the first game but rallied back to win the second game comfortably. Antonsen, however, forced Momota to commit several unforced error in the third game to win it 21-16. Antonsen has won his first major BWF title.
