Patna : World No 3 Anders Antonsen, 23, Denmark, and World No 4 and 2017 World Champion Viktor Axelsen, 27, Denmark, will clash in the finals of HSBC BWF World Tour Finals at Bangkok, Ghailand, on January 31, 2021.
Antonsen beat World No 12 Wang Tzu Wei, 25, Taiwan, in three games 21-18, 14-21, 21-16 in 80 minutes in first semi-finals on January 30, 2021. Antonsen won 56 rallies in the match to 55 by Wang. He won 5 consecutive points in the match to 8 by Wang. Wang, however, still leads Antonsen 3-2 Head to Head. Wang had upset Antonsen in straight games in Group Stage match on January 29, 2021.
In the second semi-finals, Axelsen beat World No 2 Chou Tien Chen, 31, Taiwan, in straight games 21-16, 21-9 in 45 minutes on January 30, 2021. Axelsen won 42 rallies in the match to 25 by Chen. Both the players won 4 consecutive points each during the match. Axelsen now leads Chen 13-2 Head to Head.
Axelsen had defeated Chen in Group Stage match on January 29, 2021. He had also defeated Chen in semi-finals of Toyota Thailand Open on January 23, 2021.
