Ankita Raina enters final of $25,000 ITF Women’s tournament at Solapur

Patna : Second seed Ankita Raina, 26, India, beat World No 342 Katie Boulter, 23, UK, in a three-set thriller in the semi-finals on December 7, 2019, to enter the final of $ 25,000 ITF Women’s tournament (ITF India O4A) at Solapur, Maharashtra, India, played on Hard Court. Ankita will face 5th seed Naiktha Bains, 21, UK, in the final on December 8.

World No 188 Ankita beat Katie Boulter 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 at Solapur District Lawn Tennis Association Club  in semi-finals battling back from one set down. The Indian won 6 break points in the match to 3 by Boulter, who won the first set. Ankita also won 5 games in a row in the match to 3 by Boulter. Ankita won 60 service points in the match to 55 by Boulter. Boulter, however, fired 4 Aces in the match to 1 by Ankita, who had also won her QFs match in three-sets coming back from behind.

World No 249 Naiktha Bains beat 6th Bians and World No 250 Diana Marcinkevica, 27, Latvia, 6-4, 6-2 in semi-finals. Bains won 6 break points in the match to 3 by Diana. She also won 6 games in a row in the match to 3 by the Latvian.
