Patna : World No 8 in ATP rankings Kevin Anderson, 32, South Africa, stunned top seed and World No 2 Roger Federer, 36, Switzerland, in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon tennis championship coming back from two set down to defeat him in a five set marathon 2-6, 6-7, 7-5, 6-4, 13-11 in a massive upset in the tournament. Anderson has reached Wimbledon semi-finals for the first timethree in his career. He had reached US Open final in 2017.
Federer was aiming for a 9th Wimbledon singles title and to prepare for that had avoided playing in the clay court season.
Anderson hammaered 28 Aces in the match to 16 by Federer. But, he also committed 3 double faults to just 1 by Federer. Anderson won 4 break points while Federer won 3. Federer’s winning percentage on both his first and second serve was better than that of his rival. Both the players won three games each in a row in the match.
