Patna : Top seed and World No 6 in ATP rankings Kevin Anderson, 32, South Africa, lifted the men’s singles title at Tata Open Maharashtra 2019 at Pune on January 5, 2019. Anderson, the 2018 Wimbledon and 2017 US Open finalist, beat Ivo Karlovic, 39, Croatia, in a three-game thriller 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 in the final to win the singles title. Anderson had defeated defending champion Gilles Simon, 34, France, in the semi-finals.
Karlovic hammered 36 Aces in the match to 21 by Anderson. Karlovic committed 4 double faults to 6 by Anderson. Anderson’s winning percentage on his second serve (79 %) helped him win the title. Karlovic’s winning percentage on his second serve was only 52 %. Anderson won 83 service points to 90 by Karlovic.
Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan, both India, won the doubles title beating Luke Bambridge & Jonny )’ Mara, UK, 6-3, 6-4 in the final.
