Patna : World No 8 Kevin Anderson, 32, South Africa, reached Wimbledon tennis championship final edging out World No 10 John Isner, 33, USA, in a five-set marathon semi-finals that lasted 6 hr 36 mt involving 99 games with the 5th set alone lasting 50 games and went past July 13, 2018, midnight. Anderson beat Isner 7-6, 6-7, 6-7, 6-4, 26-24 on Centre Court with both the players exchanging102 Aces including 53 by Isner and 49 by Anderson. The first four sets involved 49 games.
Anderson, who had reached US Open final in 2017, has reached Wimbledon final for the first time. He had also defeated World No 2 and top seed Roger Federer, the 8 time and defending champion, in a five-set marathon in the quarter=finals.
