Ara : Almost all Bhojpur villages and Tolas have been electrified under Deen Dayal Upadhayaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) and now the residents in rural areas in theĀ  district are getting power.

Executive Engineer, South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL), V K Gupta, said that 115 of 997 chiragi villages and 21 of 334 tolas were unelectrified so far while 882 villages and 313 tolas were partially electrified under Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY).

Gupta said that the government had fixed May 10, 2018, as deadline for rural electrification and December 2018 for tolas electrificaiton but the departments completed the electrification of 997 villages and 334 tolas in Bhojpur district by April 29, 2018. He said that Bhojpur district has 267 bechiragi villages or uninhabited and notified as grazing reserves which were not electrified.

Executive Officer Gupta said that the department got 1,19,748 applications from the people of BPL category and 9,745 applications from APL people. Gupta said that 1,16,456 power connection against 1,19,748 applications were given to BPL families and 4,362 APL families against 9,745 applications till date. The eletricity bills had been served to 3,442 APL families till date. Gupta said that he felt absoulutely thrilled and excited to complete the work well ahead of the deadline. He said that meters in the rest of the houses will be installed in a few days.
