Ara : Bhojpur district administration conducted a rehearsal of the Human Chain at Raman Maidan, Ara, on January 20. Thousands of students of different government and private schools of Ara town participated in the rehearsal. Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs)and school teachers also took part in the rehearsal during which a map of Bihar and ‘Nasha Mukt Bihar’ were formed on the ground. Such exercises were also conducted at different parts of Bhojpur district.The ANMs, Jeevika Didis, Aaganwadi Sevikas, Sahayikas applied mehandi with slogans like ‘liquor free Bihar’ and ‘Human Chain’ written on their palms.

Later, Bhojpur DM Birendra Prasad Yadav and SP Kshatranil Singh briefed the magistrates and police personnel on traffic arrangements and on maintenance of law and order on January 21, 2017. Rani Kumari, a Class VII student of a private school, who participated in the rehearsal along with hundreds of students, said that even drinking was not served to them and added that she and her friends stood in a queue for several hours without water.

Bhojpur DM Birendra Prasad Yadav said that neither the government nor Bhojpur district administration is compelling the school children to participate in the Human Chain. Talking to mediapersons , the DM said all the schools and colleges will  remain open on January 21. The DM made it clear that the participation in the Human Chain was voluntary. A torch light procession was taken out from Ara collectorate that passed through the main thoroughfares of the town on January 20. It culminated at Ramana Maidan. Over five hundred people and officials of Bhojpur district administration also participated in the procession. The DM said that the Human  Chain even will be memorable one in Bhojpur district.
