Patna : World No 58 Felix Auger-Aliassime, 18, Canada, caused a massive upset in the ATP Indian Wells Masters at California, USA, by defeating World No 10 Stefanos Tsitsipas, 20, Greece, in the 2nd round on March 10, 2019. Fast rising teenage sensation Aliassime easily beat Tsitsipas 6-4, 6-2 to enter the Round of 32.Aliassime will face World No 74 Yoshihito Nishioka, 23, Japan, in the Round of 32.
Aliassime broke Tsitsipas’ service thrice in the match besides winning 3 games in a row. Aliassime fired 4 Aces in the match to 3 by Tsitsipas. Aliassime’s winning percentage on both his first and second service ( 81% & 71 %) was much better than that of Tsitsipas ( 65% & 29%). Aliasimme had reached the final of ATP Rio Open in February 2019. He had upset World No 48 Cameron Norrie, 23, UK, in the first round.
Nishioka upset World No 22 Roberto Bautista Agut, 30, Spain, 7-6, 6-4 in the second round.
