Patna : World No 3 in ATP rankings and defending champion Alexander Zverev, 21, Germany, beat World No 45 Alex de Minaur, 19, Australia, to lift the Citi Open, Washington DC, USA, singles title on August 5, 2018, night.
Top seed Zverev beat fast rising tennis player Minaur 6-2, 6-4 in the final to retain his title. Zverev fired 6 Aces in the match to nne by Minaur. Zverev, however, also committed 4 double faults compared to 2 by his rival. But, Zverev won three break points too besides winning 4 games in a row. Citi Open is an ATP 500 tournament.
In the women section, World N0 87 in WTA rankings Swetlana Kuznetsova, Russia, defeated World No 37 Donna Vekic, Croatia, 4-6, 7-6, 6-2 to win the women’s singles title. Kuznetsova is winner of two Grand Slam titles.
