Patna : World No 45 Radu Albot, 29, Moldova, World No 57 Damir Dzumhur, Bosnia & Herzegonia, World No 75 Nicolas Jarry, 23, Chile,  World No 84 Federico Delbonis, 28, Argentina, World No 91 Albert Ramos-Vinolas, 31, Spain, and World No 107 Taro Daniel, 26, Japan, advanced to the quarter-finals of ATP Geneva Open at Geneva, Switzerland, on May 22, 2019.

Albot, the 5th seed, beat World No 78 Juan Ignacio Londero, 25, Argentina, 6-1, 6-7, 6-4 in the second round. Albot broke Londero’s service thrice in the match besides winning 3 games in a row. He served 7 Aces in the match to 6 by Londero.

Dzumhur beat World No 27 Stan Wawrinka, 34, Switzerland, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in 1hr 56 minutes in the second round. Wawrinka, the 2nd seed, though fired 5 Aces in the match to none by Dzumhur. Dzumhur broke Wawrinka’s service 4 times in the match while the latter broke his service thrice. Dzumhur won 5 games in a row in the match to 3 by Wawrinka, the winner of 3 Grand Slam singles title.

Jarry beat World No 79 Denis Kudla, 26, USA, 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the quarter-finals. Jarry broke Kudla’s service thrice in the matchd besides winning 5 games in a row.

Delbonis beat World No 38, Marton Fucsovics, 27, Hungary, 6-4, 6-2 in the second round in 75 minutes to reach the QFs of the clay court tournament. Both the players served 2 Aces each in the match. But, Fucsovics committed 8 double fault to 3 by Delbonis. Delbonis broke Fucsovics’ service 4 times in the match while the latter broke his service once. Delbonis won 5 games in a row in the match to 3 by Fucsovics.

Ramos-Vinolas beat World No 70 Joao Sousa, 30, Portugal, 6-0, 6-3 to advance to the QFs. Vinolas broke Sousa’s service 5 times in the match. He also served 3 Aces in the match to just 1 by Sousa.

Taro Daniel upset World No 37 Cristian Garin, 22, Chile, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 in 2 hrs in the 2nd round to reach the QFs. Taro broke Garin’s service thrice in the match while the latter broke his service once. Both the players served 4 Aces each.
