Patna : World No 13 Roberto Bautista Agut, Spain, World No 13 Nikoloz Basilashvili, Georgia, World No 19 Milos Raonic, Canada, and World No 22 Stan Wawrinka, Switzerland, have entered the second round of Rogers Cup, Montreal, Canada, an ATP World Tour 1,000 points tournament.

Agut defeated World No 95 Bernard Tomic, 26, Australia, 6-3, 6-2 in 60 minutes in the first round on August 6, 2019, early morning, winning 3 games in a row. He won 3 break points to 1 by the Australian. The Spaniard fired 8 Aces in the match to 7 by Tomic. Agut won 38 service points to 31 by the Australian.

Wawrinka, 34, the winner of three Grand Slam singles title, beat World No 54 Grigor Dimitrov, 28, Bulgaria, a former Top 10 player, in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 in the first round. Wawrinka hammered 12 Aces in the match to just 2 by Dimitrov. He also won 3 break points to 1 by Dimitrov. Wawrinka also won 3 games in a row in the match.

World no 66 Richard Gasquet, 33, France, upset World N0 29 Benoit Paire, 30, France, 7-6, 6-4 to enter the second round. Gasquet won 2 break points in the match to 1 by Paire. Paire, howevder, fired 7 Aces in the match to just 1 by Gasquet. Gasquet’s winning percentage on his second serve (70%) was much better than that of Paire (43 %).

World No 20 Gael Monfils, 32, France, beat World No 172 Peter Polansky, 31, Canada, 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 in 2 hr 11 minutes to enter the 2nd round. Monfils won 5 break points in the match to 2 by the Canadian.

Basilashvili beat World No 28 Dusan Lajovic, 29, Serbia, 3-6, 6-4-6-4 in 2 hr 1 minute in the first round on August 5, 2019, night. Both the players won 7 break points each in the match. Basilashvili won 4 games in a row in the match to 3 by Lajovic. He won 52 service points to 40 by the Serbian.

Raonic beat Lucas Pouille, France, 6-4, 6-4 in 72 minutes in the first round on August 5. Raonic hammered 16 Aces in the match besides winning 3 games in a row.
