Patna: The Aam Admi Party (AAP) on Thursday held the state government responsible for the Gopalganj hooch tragedy. AAP Bihar Incharge Sanjiv Jha, MLA, said that the hooch tragedy was the result of administrative failure of the state government.  He said the complete prohibition notwithstanding, liquor smugglers are still very active in Bihar as in Gujarat where about two thousand people have died during last ten years due to illicit liquor.

An AAP team comprising party’s central observer Sushil Kumar, Ajit Rathor and Alok Kumar on Thursday visited Gopalganj to make an on th spot inquiry of the incident. The AAP workers also staged ghrao of Gopalganj DM’s office. Sushil Kumar claimed that so far 52 persons had died in Gopalganj after consuming illicit liquor. The party has demanded a compensation of Rs one crore each to the kin of all the victims.
