Saharsa : In a horrific incident at village Madhura under Saur Bazaar police station in Saharsa district, in-laws allegedly tried to kill Chandni Kumari through electrocution in the wee hours on January 23 for not begetting a male child and also not bringing enough dowry. Chandi, who was married five years back to Murari Sharma of village Madhura, has two daughters aged three and one-and-a-half year respectively.
Chandni was admitted to Saharsa Sadar 0hospital on January 24. She told Sadar police station cops that ever since her marriage her in-laws and husband were torturing her for not bringing adequate dowry and also not begetting a male child. She was repeatedly being asked to bring a vehicle and cash as dowry from her parents.
On January 23, her husband and in-laws first thrashed her and then tried to kill her through electrocution, Chandni told police adding when she started crying for help, her brother who had come two-days back, woke up and tried to inform their mother on mobile about it but her in-laws snatched his mobile and assaulted him as well.
