Patna : World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying, 27, Chinese Taipei, defeated defending champion P V Sindhu, 26, India, in straight games in women’s singles quarter-final of TotalEnergies BWF World Championships 2021 at Heulva, Spain, on December 17, 2021, to reach theĀ  semi-finals of the tournament.

Top seed & Asian Games gold medallist Tai Tzu Ying beat 6th seed P V Sindhu 21-17, 21-13 in 42 minutes in QF. Tai Tzu won 42 rallies during the match to 30 by World No 7 Sindhu. She won 6 consecutive points during the match to 3 by the Indian. Tai Tzu now leads twice olympic medallist Sindhu 15-5 Head to Head. Sindhu has won 15 career titles.
