Patna:  Expulsion of  UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and parliamentaryparty leader Ram Gopal Yadav from party for six years on December 30 evening by party president Mulayam Singh Yadav has given Akhilesh image of a victim
and a martyr, according to political observers here.
Akhilesh had won the 2012 assembly elections on his personal image of a young and honest leader and he tried to maintain the same during last five years. Akhilesh, in contrast to his father, presented himself as a modern, sophisticated and improved version of Samajwadi Party supremo. He developed the national highways, got metro train at Lucknow and distributed computers among students. His team comprising trusted colleagues did not have only Yadavs and included upper castes too.
In Bihar, the party ‘s unit led by former union minister Devendra Prasad Yadav will, however, remain with Mulayam Singh Yadav, the observers said. According to them, RJD president Lalu Prasad, a close relative of Mulayam, failed in preventing a split in the Samajwadi Pariwar though he had claimed influence on both Mulayam and Akhilesh.
