Purnia : Vishwajit Singh alias Rintu Singh, a former Member of Purnia Zila Parishad, and husband of Angulika Singh, who was recently elected Member of Purnia Zila Parishad, was shot dead around 5.30 pm on November 12, 2021, by some unidentified persons near State Bank of India branch at village Sarasi under Sarasi police station (PS) in Purnia District in Eastern Bihar. Tension prevails in the area and police are conducting raids to nab the assailants.
Purnia SP Daya Shankar said that police were investigating the incident and conducting raids to nab the killers. Hundreds of angry people of the locality blocked the Sarasi-Purnia and Saharsa roads placing the body on road for hours. The supporters of Vishwajit Singh are demanding arrest of the assailants at the earliest.
Angulika Singh, the newly elected Member of Zila Parishad, alleged that her rivals had killed her husband. She said that some criminals had fired on his husband last week too but no arrest has been made by police in this connection.
