Sourabh beat Ygor Coelho Brazil, in straight games 22-20, 21-19 in 43 minutes in first round at Stade Pierre De Coubertin, Paris, France. Sourabh won 8 consecutive points during the match to 4 by Coelho. he won 43 points to 39 by the Brazilian.
Three other India shuttlers : Kidambi Srikanth, H S Pranoy, and Parupalli Kashyap, however, crashed out of the tournament losing their respective first round matches. Srikanth went down fighting to top seed Kento Momota, 27, Japan, in three games. World No 1 Momota beat Srikanth 21-18, 20-22, 21-19 in 79 minutes in first round.
Fourth seed Chou Tien Che, 31, Chinese Taipei, beat H S Pranoy, India, 21-11, 21-14 in first round. Brice Leverdez, 35, France, defeated Parupalli Kashyap, India, in three-games 21-17, 17-21, 21-11 in 64 minutes in first round.
