Patna : England defeated Bangladesh by 8 wickets in a Group 1 match of ICC T20 World Cup at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, UAE, on October 27, 2021, evening, as opener Jason Roy scored 61 runs in 38 balls hitting 5 fours and 3 sixes. Chasing a target of 125 runs, E gland scored 126/2 in 14.1 overs only as Dawid Malan remained unbeaten on 28 in 25 balls with 3 fours while Jonny Bairstow remained 8 not out. Bangladesh had won the toss and opted to bat and scored 124/9 in 20 overs with Mushfiqur Rahim scoring 29 runs.

Chasing the target,England openers : Jason Roy and Jos Buttler added 39 runs for the first wicket. Buttler fell to Nasum Ahmed for 18. Roy fell to Shoriful Islam for 61 and it was 112/2. Roy and Malan added 73 runs for the 2nd wicket. Roy was named Player Of the Match.
