Ara : A newly married woman was strangulated to death and hanged to the ceiling of her room at her in-laws’ lace at village Dharahara on Dharahara-Zamira main road under Ara Town police station (PS) on August 27, 2021, late evening The deceased was identified as Kajal Kumari, 23, wife of Abhinash Prasad alias Rakesh Kumar of village Dharahara.
Manorama Devi, mother of the deceased, of Kajichak Ward No 5 under Koelwar PS in Bhojpur District in South Bihar said that her daughter Kajal Kumari was married to Avinash Prasad alias Rakesh Kumar, son of late Rajendra Prasad of Dharahara village, in June 20, 2021. Soon after the marriage, her husband and the sister-in-law (jethani) started torturing her for more dowry including a car and when their demands were not fulfilled, they killed Kajal Kumari. She further said that on August 27, 2021 evening, brother-in-law (jeth) of the deceased informed that Kajal Kumari was seriously ill and when she along with other family members reached there, Kajal Kuamri was lying dead on the floor of the house. They informed police at once and police recovered the body and brought it over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem, said Manorama Devi
SHO, Ara Town PS, Shambhu Kumar Bhagat said that police have arrested Avinash Kumar alias Rakesh Kumar, husband of the deceased, and are interrogating him.
