New Delhi : India logged 46,759 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, up from 44,658 cases a day before, taking the tally of cases recorded so far in the country to 3,26,49,947 at 8 am on August 28, 2021, contonuing the alarming spike in new cases. Less than 50,000 Daily New Cases has been reported for 62 consecutive days now.
On the other hand, a total of 31,374 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the country in last 24 hours, down from 32,988 a day before, taking the tally to 3,18,52,802 on August 28, 2021, with the recovery rate (RR) dropping to 97.56% from 97.60% on August 26, 2021.
India’s Active Caseload climbed to 3,59,775 on August 28, 2021, up from 3,44,899 on August 27, 2021, an increase of 14,876 cases in last 24 hours and accounted for 1.10% of the country’s total Positive Cases from 1.06% on August 27, 2021.
Meanwhile, in a landmark achievement, India administered more than 1 Crore Covid-19 vaccine doses on August 27, 2021. With the administration of 1,03,35,290 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage surpassed the cumulative figure of 62.29 crore (62,29,89,134) as per provisional reports till 7 am on August 28, 2021. This has been achieved through 67,19,042 sessions, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
The last 24 hours saw a total of 17,61,110 sample tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 51.68 crore (51,68,87,602) cumulative tests.
The Weekly Positivity Rate at 2.19% remains less than 3% for the last 64 days now. The Daily Positivity rate was 2.66% on August 28, 2021. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 33 days and below 5% for 82 consecutive days now.
India recorded 509 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the toll to 4,37,470 on August 28, 2021, up from 498 deaths on August 27, 2021.
