New Delhi : India recorded 34,457 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, down from 36,571 cases the day before, taking the tally of cases registered so far in the country to 3,23,93,286 cases at 8 am on August 21, 2021. The trend of less than 50,000 Daily New Cases continued for the 55 consecutive days.
On the other hand, a total of 36,347 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the country in last 24 hours, down from 36,555 on the day before, taking the tally to 3,15,97,982 with the recovery rate (RR) being 97.54% on August 21, 2021, the highest since March 2020.
The Active Caseload count was 3,61,340 on August 21, 2021, a drop of 2,265 cases in last 24 hours, the lowest in 151 days. Active cases accounted for only 1.12% of the country’s total Positive Cases, the lowest since March 2020, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
With the administration of 36,36,043 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed the cumulative figure of 57.61 crore (57,61,17,350) as per provisional reports till 7 am on August 21, 2021. This has been achieved through 64,01,385 sessions.
The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 17,21,205 sample tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 50.45 crore (50,45,76,158) cumulative tests.
The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.98% remained less than 3% for the last 57 days now. The Daily Positivity rate was 2.00% on August 21, 2021. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 26 days and below 5% for 75 consecutive days now.
India logged 375 new deaths in last 24 hours taking the toll to 4,33,964 on August 21, 2021.
