New Delhi : India logged 35,178 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, up from 25,166 cases a day before, taking the tally of cases recorded so far to 3,22,85,857 at 8 am on August 18, 2021. Less than 50,000 Daily New Cases have been reported for 52 consecutive days.
On the other hand, a total of 37,169 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the country in last 24 hours, up from 36,830 cases a day before, taking the tally to 3,14,85,923 on August 18, 2021, with the recovery rate (RR) improving to 97.52%, the highest since March 2020.
India’s Active Caseload was 3,67,415 on August 18, 2021, a drop of 2,431 cases in last 24 hours. This lowest in 148 days. Active cases now constitute only 1.14% of the country’s total Positive Cases, the lowest since March 2020.
Meanwhile, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage crossed 56 crore landmark on August 17, 2021. Cumulatively, 56,06,52,030 vaccine doses have been administered through 62,67,149 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on August 18, 2021. A total of 55,05,075 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
A total of 17,97,559 sample tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country. Cumulatively, India has conducted over 49.84 crore (49,84,27,083) tests so far.
The Weekly Positivity Rate was 1.95% on August 18, 2021. It has remained less than 3% for last 54 days now. The Daily Positivity rate was 1.96%. Daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for last 23 days and below 5% for 72 consecutive days now.
India recorded 440 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the toll to 4,32,519 in the country on August 18, 2021, including 1,35,255 in Maharashtra, 37,039 in Karnataka, 34,579 in Tamilnadu, and 25,073 in Delhi.
