New Delhi : India registered 32,937 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded so far in the country to 3,22,25,513 at 8 am on August 16, 2021. Less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 50 consecutive days.
On the other hand, a total of 35,909 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours in the country taking the tally to 3,14,11,924 on August 16, 2021, with the recovery rate (RR) improving to 97.48%, the highest since March 2020.
India’s Active Caseload was 3,81,947 on August 16, 2021, a drop of 3,389 cases in last 24 hours.India’s Active caseload was lowest in 145 days on August 16, 2021. Active cases now constitute only 1.19% of the country’s total Positive Cases, lowest since March 2020, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
Meanwhile, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 54.58 crore. Cumulatively, 54,58,57,108 vaccine doses have been administered through 61,54,235 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on August 16, 2021. A total of 17,43,114 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
A total of 11,81,212 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country. Cumulatively, India has conducted over 49.48 crore (49,48,05,652) tests so far.
The Weekly Positivity Rate was 2.01% while the Daily Positivity rate was 2.79% on August 16, 2021. Daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for last 21 days and below 5% for 70 consecutive days now.
