New Delhi : India recorded 35,499 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, slightly up from 39,070 cases on August 8, 2021, taking the tally of cases registered so far in the country to 3,19,69,954 at 8 am on August 9, 2021. Less than 50,000 Daily New Cases have been reported for 43 consecutive days due to sustained and collaborative efforts by the Centre and States/UTs.
On the other hand, a total of 39,686 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the country in last 24 hours taking the tally to 3,11,39,457 on August 9, 2021, with the recovery rate improving to 97.40% from 97.39% on the day before. This is the highest ever recovery rate achieved by India since the start of the pandemic, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 50.86 crore. Cumulatively, 50,86,64,759 vaccine doses have been administered through 58,79,068 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on August 9, 2021.A total of 16,11,590 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours in the country..
India’s Active Caseload further dropped to 4,02,188 on August 9, 2021, a drop of 4,634 cases in last 24 hours, and constituted 1.26% of the country’s total Positive Cases. Weekly Positivity Rate currently was 2.35% and Daily Positivity rate was 2.59% on August 9, 2021. Daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for last 14 days and below 5% for 63 consecutive days now.
A total of 13,71,871 sample tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country. Cumulatively, India has conducted over 48 crore (48,17,67,232) tests so far.
India reported 447 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the toll to 4,28,309 on August 9, 2021.
