Patna : India  entered the semi-finals of men’s Hockey at Tokyo Olympics defeating Great Britain 3-1 in quarter-final on August 1, 2021, keeping alive their gold medal medal hope. India will face 2018 World champion Belgium in semi-final.

Dilpreet Singh scored first goal for India in first quarter on a pass from Simranjeet Singh to give his team a lead. Gurjant Singh scored the second goal for India in the second quarter.

Great Britain’s Sam Ward then scored goal from penalty corner for his country at the end of third quarter. Hardik Singh scored third goal for India in last quarter to make it 3-1. Hardik’s first shot was deflected by Great Britain’s goal-keeper. Hardik hit it again and scored goal.

India had last won Olympic gold medal at Moscow Olympics in 1980. Great Britain had won gold medal in Seoul Olympic in 1988.
