Buxar : Police arrested a husband -wife duo from Mau in Uttar Pradesh (UP) in connection with cheating of Rs 11 lakh and brought them over to Dumraon in Buxar District in South Bihar on August 1, 2021. They were evading arrest for the last 10 months.
Buxar SP Neeraj Kumar Singh said that Bharat Chaudhary, son of Banshropan Chaudhary of Charmotiyainar (Mathia Anar) locality under Dumraon police station (PS) in Buxar District came in contact with Sunil Chaudhary, son of late Bihari Lal Jaisawal of Old Bhojpur, during a business deal. Bharat told Sunil Chaudhary that he wants to sale his house at Charmotiyainar. Sunil Chaudhary showed his interest in the house and gave Rs 5 lakh on August 14, 2018, and Rs 6 lakh on August 20, 2020, in advance for the house to Bharat Chaurdhary, SP Singh said.
When Sunil Chaudhary went to Bharat Chaudhary for the possession of the house on August 22, 2020, the latter called him on August 26, 2020. When Sunil Chaudhary went to meet Bharat Chaudhary on August 26, 2020, the latter refused to sell his house to the former saying that someone was giving more money for the house and also assured to return him money with interest, SP Singh said.
The SP said that Bharat Chaudhary gave two cheques of the State Bank of India to Sunil Chaudhary but the cheques bounced when Sunil went to the bank to draw the amount. Meanwhile, Bharat Chaudhary sold his house to other person and left the place bag and baggage. He went to Mau in UP and was living there with his family in their newly constructed house, the SP added.
Sunil Chaudhary felt cheated and lodged a named FIR with Dumraon PS against Bharat Chaudhary and his wife Sulochana Devi. After institution of FIR, police swung into action and started investigating the matter. During investigation, police came to know that both husband and wife were living at Mau in UP. DSP K K Singh formed a police team under SHO, Dumraon PS, Bindeshwar Ram, and sent it to Mau on July 30, 2021. The police team with the help of their UP counterpart conducted raid at a house at Barur Ward No 2 and arrested Bharat Chaudhary and his wife Sulochana Devi. Police produced them before a court and they sent to jail under judicial custody, the SP said.
The SP stated that Bharat Chaudhary and his wife Sulochana Devi are said to have cheated a number of hapless and poor persons using fake documents but no written complaint has so far been received in this regard. Police are investigating the matter.
