Nien had won won a bronze medal at the world championships in 2016.
Lovlina’s two elder sisters : Licha and Lima, are kick boxers. Her mother Mamoni underwent a kidney transplant last year. But, the government stepped in to assist Borgohain after she recovered from Covid, including a personalised training camp in Assam for her. Mmeditation has helped her to stay focussed.
