New Delhi : India registered 43,393 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded so far in the country to 3,07,52,950 at 8 am on July 9, 2021.

On the other hand, a total of 44,459 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the country in last 24 hours taking the tally to 2,98,88,284 in the country on July 9, 2021, exceeding the new cases. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients improved to 97.19% in the country on July 9, 2021. 

India’s Active caseload on July 9, 2021, was 4,58,727, a drop of 1,977 cases in last 24 hours, and account for  only 1.49% of total cases. The Weekly Positivity Rate was 2.36% on July 9.  The Daily positivity rate was 2.42% on the day, less than 3% for 18 consecutive days.

Meanwhile, India’s cumulative Covid Vaccination Coverage on July 9, 2021, exceeded 36.89 crore (36,89,91,222) as per the provisional report till 7 am. Cumulatively, more than 11.18 crore (11,18,32,803) Vaccine Doses were administered in the age group 18-44 years. Over 40 lakh (40,23,173) Vaccine Doses were administered in the last 24 hours, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

India logged 911 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the toll to 4,05,939 in the country including 1,24,296 in Maharashtra, 35,663 in Karnataka, 33,253 in Tamilnadu, 25,008 in Delhi, 22,676 in Uttar Pradesh, 17,867 in West Bengal, 16,157 in Punjab, 14,250 in Kerala, 13,467 Chhattisgarh, 9,614 in Bihar, and 5,119 in Jharkhand.

On Day 174 of the vaccination drive ( July 8, 2021), out of total 40,23,173 vaccine doses administered, 27,01,200 beneficiaries were vaccinated for 1st dose while 13,21,973 beneficiaries received 2nd dose of the vaccine.

A total of 20,31,634 vaccine doses were administered as first dose and 1,79,901 vaccine doses given as second dose in the age group 18-44 year on July 8, 2021. Cumulatively, 10,84,53,590 persons in the age group 18-44 year across 37 States/UTs have received their first dose and total 33,79,213 have received their second.

Eight States viz. Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Maharashtra have administered more than 50 lakh first dose of Covid-19 Vaccine in the age group 18-44 year.

Testing capacity has been substantially ramped up and over 42.70 crore samples have been tested so far in the country.
