Patna : World No 18 Hubert Hurkacz, 24, Poland, sent World No 2 Daniil Medvedev, 25, Russia, packing out of Wimbledon Championships in 4th round on July 6, 2021, early morning, in a five-set thriller on Centre Court at All England Club, Wimbledon, London, UK, to set up a quater-final match with World No 8 Roger Federer, 39, Switzerland, on July 7, 2021. This will be Hurkacz’ first appearance in a Grand Slam quarter-final. Hurkacz had won Miami Masters 1,000 title on April 4, 2021.

Second seed Medvedev was leading by two sets to one after the third set when the play was stopped due to rain on July 5, 2021, evening, but after that 14th seed Hurkacz turned the table on him winning the fourth and fifth set to win the five-set marathon.
