New Delhi : India logged 39,796 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases registered so far to 3,05,85,229 at 8 am on July 5, 2021. Less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported in the country for the 8th consecutive day on July 5.
On the other hand, a total of 42,352 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours taking the tally to 2,97,00,430 on July 5, 2021, as daily recoveries continued to outnumber the daily new cases for 53rd consecutive day. More than 2,000 (2,556) recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours as compared to the daily new cases.
India recorded 723 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the toll to 4,02,728 on July 5, 2021, including 1,23,030 in Maharashtra, 35,367 in Karnataka, 33,005 in Tamilnadu, 24,995 in Delhi, 22,640 in Uttar Pradesh, 17,799 in West Bengal, 16,110 in Punjab, 13,716 in Kerala, 13,456 in Chhattisgarh, 12844 in Andhra Pradesh, 10,069 in Gujarat, 9,601 in Bihar, 7,333 in Uttarakhand, and 5,115 in Jharkhand.
Out of the people infected since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,97,00,430 people have already recovered from COVID-19.This constitutes an overall recovery rate of 97.11% showing a sustained increasing trend.
India has also been witnessing a continuous fall in the active caseload. The country’s Active Caseload was 4,82,071 on July 5, 2021, a drop of 3,279 in the last 24 hours. Active cases accounted for only 1.58% of the country’s total Positive Cases on July 5, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
Meanwhile, India’s cumulative vaccination coverage exceeded 35.28 crore on July 4, 2021. A total of 35,28,92,046 vaccine doses have been administered through 46,34,986 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on July 5, 2021. A total of 14,81,583 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
With substantially ramped up testing capacity across the country, a total of 15,22,504 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country. Cumulatively, India has conducted over 41.97 crore (41,97,77,457) tests so far.
While on one side testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, a continued decline in weekly case positivity is noticed. Weekly Positivity Rate is currently 2.40% while the Daily Positivity rate was 2.61% on July 5, 2021. Daily Positivity rate has remained less than 5% for 28 consecutive days now.
