Patna : Defending champion and host Brazil defeated Chile 1-0 in quarter-final at Olympic Stadium, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on July 3, 2021, to reach the semi-finals of Copa America. Midfielder Lucas Paqueta, 23, scored the winning goal for nine-time champion Brazil in 46th minute.
Brazil were, however, reduced to a 1-men team after 48th minute after its player Gabriel Jesus, 24, was shown Red Card. Chile made tremendous bid to score the equaliser in second half but in vain. The match remained leven at 0-0 in the first half.
Three Chile players and 1 from Brazil were shown Yellow Cards during the match. Brazil committed 13 fouls to 12 by Chile, who had won Copa America Cup in 2015 & 2016.
