Bokaro (Jharkhand) : The days are not far away when Bokaro Steel City in Jharkhand will have an International Cricket Stadium. Once the stadium is complete, Bokaro will become the third city in Jharkhand to have an International Cricket Stadium after Keenan Stadium, Jamshedpur, and Jharkhand State Cricket Association International Cricket Stadium (JSCA), Ranchi.
The Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) on June 25, 2021, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SAIL Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) for the construction of an International Cricket Stadium in Bokaro steel city. It is a lease agreement under which Bokaro Steel Plant will transfer 20.17 acre of its land to JSCA for 33 years to facilitate construction of an International Cricket Stadium in Balidih area of Bokaro.
Secretary of JSCA Sanjay Sahay and Assistant Manager, Bokaro Steel Plant, S R Patra signed the lease agreement for land in the presence of former BCCI Secretary Amitabh Choudhary, Amarendu Prakash, Director in-charge, Bokaro Steel Plant, Bokaro MLA Biranchi Narayan, and JSCA President Dr Nafis Akhtar.
The International Cricket Stadium, Bokaro, will accomodate 25,000 spectators. Choudhary said that like Ranchi, the upcoming cricket stadium at Bokaro will be completed in a record time. “
Director in-charge, Bokaro Steel Plant Amrendu Prakash said that it was a matter of immense pride that an International Cricket Stadium will be coming up at Bokaro which will boost sports in the region.
