New Delhi : India logged 46,148 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded so far in the country to 3,02,79,331 at 8 am on June 28, 2021. Less than 1 lakh Daily New Cases have been reported for 21 continuous days now.
On the other hand, a total of 58,578 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the country in last 24 hours taking the tally of the patients cured to 2,93,09,607 on June 27, 2021. Daily recoveries continued to outnumber the Daily New Cases for the 46th consecutive day on June 28. A total of 12,430 recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours as compared to the daily new cases.The Recovery Rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients improved to 96.80% in the country on June 28, showing a sustained increasing trend.
India’s Active Caseload further declined to 5,72,994 on June 28, 2021, a drop of 13,409 in last 24 hours, and now account for only 1.89% of the country’s total Positive Cases.. The country recorded 979 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the toll to 3,96,730 on June 28.
Meanwhile, India has achieved another milestone in its Covid-19 vaccination drive as it overtook USA in terms of the total number of Covid vaccine doses administered on June 28. India’s Covid Vaccination drive started on January 16, 2021, whereas the Covid vaccination in USA started on December 14, 2020. India’s cumulative vaccination coverage exceeded 32.36 crore on June 27, 2021.
A total of 32,36,63,297 vaccine doses have been administered through 43,21,898 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on June 28, 2021. A total of 17,21,268 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, according to Union Health Ministry figure. The new phase of universalisation of Covid-19 vaccination commenced from June 21, 2021, in the country.
With substantially ramped up testing capacity across the country, a total of 15,70,515 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country. Cumulatively, India has conducted 40,63,71,279 tests so far.
While on one side testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, a continued decline in weekly case positivity is noticed. Weekly Positivity Rate is currently at 2.81% while the Daily Positivity rate was 2.94% on June 28, 2021. It has remained less than 5% for 21 consecutive days now.
