Patna : New Zealand (NZ) thumped England by 8 wickets on Day 4 at Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK, in the 2nd test to win the two-match series 1-0. NZ fast medium bowler Matt Henry was declared Player Of The Match for taking 6 wickets in the match – three wickets in each innings. England captain Joe Root said that NZ  outplayed us. It was NZ’s third series against England in England.

Devon Conway ( NZ opener) and Rory Burns ( England opener) were declared Player of The Series. Convay had scored double century in 1st test and 80 in first innings in 2nd test. Burns had scored 132 in 1st test and 81 in 1st innings in 2nd test.

Set a target of 38 runs to win the match, NZ scored 41/2 in 10.5 overs with opener Tom Latham ( captain) scoring the winning four. Latham remained unbeaten on 23 in 32 balls with 3 fourswhile Ross Taylor remained not out on zero. Opener Devon Conway fell to fast bowler Stuart Broad for 3 while Will Young fell to Olly Stone for 8. Broad took 5 wickets in the match including 4 wickets in first innings.

Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 122/9 , England were all out at the score on the first ball of first over on Day 4 as Olly Stone fell to Trent Boult for 15. Boult took 6 wickets in the match – 4 wickets in first innings and 2 in second.
