Patna : Active cases further dropped to 37,942 in Bihar on May 24, 2021, down from 40,691 the previous day, as only 2,844 more persons tested positive for Covid-19 in the state on May 23, 2021. A total of 4,002 persons had tested positive for Covid-19 on May 22, 2021, in the state. Bihar also recorded 93 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the tally to 4,642 in the state on May 24, 2021. Meanwhile, Bihar Government on May 24, 2021, extended the period of lockdown by a week till June 1, 2021.
The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients improved to 93.85% on May 24 from 93.44% on May 23, 2021. The 2,844 new Covid-19 cases included 490 in Patna, 201 in Samastipur, 141 in Begusarai, 139 in Gaya, 132 in Katihar, 124 in Aurangabad, 104 in West Champaran, 94 in Nalanda, 94 in Supaul, 92 in Muzaffarpur, 90 in Araria, 83 in East Champaran, 79 in Bhagalpur, 80 in Vaishali, 75 in Munger, and 75 in Gopalganj.
Bihar has tested 2,91,36,281 samples so far including 1,28,033 samples on May 23, 2021. Of the 6,92,420 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in Bihar, a total of 6,49,835 patients have been declared cured including 5,500 in last 24 hours.
The 93 new deaths due to Covid-19 included 11 in Rohtas, 10 in Patna, 8 in West Champaran, 8 in Saran, 7 in Buxar, 6 in Siwan, 5 in Kaimur, 5 in Bhojpur, 5 in Banka, 3 in Nalanda, 2 in Muzaffarpur, 2 in Nawada, 2 in Supaul, 2 in Vaishali, 2 in Lakhisarai, 2 in Begusarai, 2 in Gaya, 2 in Gopalganj, 2 in Jamui, and 2 in Khagaria.
With it, the Covid-19 toll jumped to 1,153 in Patna, 284 in West Champaran, 269 in Muzaffarpur, 223 in Nalanda, 182 in Gaya, 169 in Darbhanga, 156 in saran, 130 in Munger, 119 in Rohtas, 110 in Siwan, 107 in Madhubani, 84 in Nawada, 81 in Madhepura, 56 in Araria, 55 in Supaul, 41 in Katihar, 38 in Gopalganj, 36 in Lakhisarai, 35 in Aurangabad, 35 in Kaimur, and 30 in Khagaria.
