New Delhi : Single day recoveries of Covid-19 patients continue to outnumber the number of new cases in India. A total of 3,89,851 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in India in last 24 hours, down from a record 4,22,436 the previous day, taking the tally to 2,19,86,363 in the country at 8 am on May 19, 2021. On the other hand, India logged 2,67,334 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, up from 2,63,533 cases the previous day, taking the tally to 2,54,96,330 cases in the country on May 19, 2021. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients improved to 86.23% in India on May 19 from 85.60% on May 18, 2021.

Active cases dropped to 32,26,719 in India on May 19, 2021, from 33,53,765 cases on May 18, 2021, a huge drop of 1,27,046 cases in last 24 hours. The country has tested 32,03,01,177 samples so far including 20,08,296 samples on May 18, 2021. Meanwhile, a total of 18,58,09,302 people have so far been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India including 13,12,155 beneficiaries on May 18, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

India logged a record 4,529 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the tally to 2,83,248 in the country on May 19, 2021. The new deaths included 1,291 in Maharashtra, 525 in Karnataka, 364 in Tamilnadu, 265 in Delhi, 255 in Uttar Pradesh, 231 in Punjab, 153 in Chhattisgarh, 146 in Rajasthan, 145 in West Bengal, 124 in Haryana, 111 in Bihar, 99 in Andhra Pradesh, 98 in Uttarakhand, 97 in Kerala, 78 in Himachal Pradesh, 73 in Assam, 71 in J&K, 67 in Gujarat, 62 in Jharkhand, 45 in Jharkhand, 20 in Manipur, and 19 in Meghalaya. India had recorded 4,329 new deaths on May 18, 2021. The case fatality rate rose to 1.11% in India on May 19, 2021.
