Patna : Top seed & five-time champion Novak Djokovic, 33, Serbia, edged past 5th seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, 22, Greece, in a three-set battle to reach the semi-final of Italian Open, an ATP Masters 1,000 clay court tournament, at Rome, Italy, on May 15, 2021, early morning. Defending champion Djokovic, the winner 18 Grand Slam singles titles, beat Tsitsipas 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 in quarter-finals in 3hrs 16 minutes rallying back from one set down.

Djokovic won 6 break points to 5 by Tsitsipas. The Serbiban had created 23 break point opportunities but could convert only 6 of them. Tsitsipas, who had recently won the Monte-Carlo Masters singles title, created 14 break point opportunities but could could convert only 5 of them. Both the players won 3 games each in a row during the match. Tsitsipas fired 5 Aces in the match to 4 by Djokovic. The Serbian now leads Tsitsipas 5-2 Head toHead.

Djokovic will face World No 33 Lorenzo Sonego, 25, Italy, in semi-final at 10 pm on May 15, 2021. Sonego upset 7th seed Andrey Rublev, 23, Russia, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in quarter-finals in 2hr 33 minutes coming back from one set down. Sonego won 3 break points during the match to 2 by Rublev.
