New Delhi : India logged 3,26,098 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours down from 3,43,144 cases on May 14, 2021, taking the tally of cases recorded so far in the country to 2,43,72,907 at 8 am on May 15, 2021. In a significant development, a total of 3,53,299 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the country in last 24 hours taking the tally to 2,04,32,,898 at 8 am on May 15, 2021, exceeding the number of new cases by a margin of 27,201. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients improved to 83.83 % on May 15 from 83.50 % on May 14, 2021.
Active cases stood at 36,73,802 in India on May 15, 2021, a decrease of 31,091 cases in last 24 hours, and accounted for 15.07% of the total Covid-19 cases (2,43,72,907) recorded in the country. The country has tested 31,30,17,193 samples so far including 16,93,093 samples on May 14, 2021. Meanwhile, a total of 18,04,57,579 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 11,03,625 beneficiaries on May 14, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
The Covid-19 death toll climbed to 2,66,207 in IIndia at 8 am on May 15, 2021, with 3,890 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 695 in Maharashtra, 373 in Karnataka, 311 in Uttar Pradesh, 289 in Delhi, 288 in Tamilnadu, 181 in Uttarakhand, 180 in Punjab, 172 in Chhattisgarh, 164 in Haryana, 155 in Rajasthan, 136 in West Bengal, 104 in Gujarat, 93 in kerala, 88 in Madhya Pradesh, 77 in Bihar, 76 in Jharkhand, 61 in Goa, 60 in J&K, 29 in Telengana, 13 in Nagaland, and 12 in Meghalaya. India had recorded 4,000 new deaths on May 14, 2021.
