Patna : Bihar recorded a total of 9,863 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours taking the tally of Active in the state to 99,623 cases including 19,316 cases in Patna on May 12, 2021. It is after several days that the state has recorded less than ten thousand cases on a single day. Bihar had registered 10,920 new cases on May 11, 2021. Bihar also recorded 74 new deaths in last 24 hours taking the tally to to 3,503 in the state on May 12, 2021.
With an addition of 9,863 new cases on May 12, 2021, the number of Covid-19 recorded so far in Bihar rose to 6,22,433 cases on May 12, 2021, of which 5,19,306 patients have been declared cured including 12,265 in last 24 hours with the recovery rate (RR) improving to 83.43% up from 82.77% on May 11, 2021. The state has tested 2,76,33,066 samples so far including 1,11,740 samples on May 11, 2021.
The fresh 9,863 cases included 977 in Patna, 523 in Nalanda, 506 in Muzaffarpur, 487 in Samastipur, 478 in Katihar, 409 in Begusarai, 398 in Vaishali, 388 in Gaya, 343 in Saran, 339 in West Champaran, 338 in East Champaran, 331 in Purnia, 317 in Madhubani, 298 in Vaishali, 291 in Supaul, 281 in Khagaria, 276 in Munger, 260 in Araria, and 228 in Aurangabad. Meanwhile, 6.14 lakh vaccine doses including 5 lakh Covishield reached Patna on May 12, 2021.
The 74 new deaths recorded in the state included 15 in Patna, 8 in West Champaran, 6 in Muzaffarpur, 6 in Nalanda, 5 in Saran, 4 in Darbhanga, 3 in Vaishali, 2 in Madhepura, 2 in Munger, 2 in Madhubani, 2 in Bhagalpur, and 2 in Araria.
With it, the toll climbed to 1,004 in Patna, 233 in Bhagalpur, 223 in Muzaffarpur, 172 in Nalanda, 146 in West Champaran, 142 in Gaya, 138 in Darbhanga, 106 in Munger, 100 in Saran, 84 in Vaishali, 80 in Madhubani, 57 in Madhepura, and 37 in Araria.
Meanwhile, police on May 11, 2021, arrested ward boy of a private facility under Sabour police station in Bhagalpur District in Eastern Bihar Jyoti Kumar for allegedly misbehaving with a woman, wife of a Covid-19 patient.
